Washington County’s rich history is a superb launching point for tours and activities. A number of small, well-curated museums document the often pivotal local events that influenced regional and/or national history; others highlight the people who have made a mark here. Reenactments bring history to life—literally. There also are dozens of historic homes, structures and sites to explore, including four noteworthy covered bridges.
