Friends of the IBA's 2nd Annual
Winter Raptor Fest returns to the heart of the Washington County Grasslands IBA in Fort Edward on March 10 & 11. Close encounters with the owls, hawks and falcons that depend on the IBA for their survival give you a taste of the IBA experience. Join VINS (Vermont Institute of Natural Science)educators as they explore the natural world through the eyes of a variety of native raptors. At least two of these "Winged Wonders" birds will demonstrate Free-Flight! See and learn more about the owls, hawks and falcons that depend on IBA for their survival in other fun and educational Live Bird of Prey presentations by New York State Wildlife Rehab Council, The Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York, North Country Wild Care and Adirondack Wildlife Refuge & Rehab Center. Meet the raptors and educators in the Exhibitor Barn afterwards.
New York State DEC presents a look at the state's Short-eared Owl Monitoring Project and the critical importance of this unique IBA to these mysterious, endearing and endangered owls! Guided snowshoe walks to look for at-risk raptors and songbirds, horse-drawn sleigh rides, "make and take" crafts for kids, educational exhibits, food vendors and more round out the weekend.

From this sap comes pure maple syrup and a variety of other delicious products. Washington County is located in the Upper Hudson New York Maple Producers region and association and non association producers will be open during Maple Weekend.

12TH ANNUAL CAMBRIDGE VALLEY BALLOON FESTIVAL

Cambridge puts out the welcome mat for this annual family-friendly celebration. Hot air balloon launches, fireworks, moon glow, carnival games and rides, musical events, vendors, and more! Most activities have no admission fee and free parking. Launches are scheduled for Friday eveining at 7p, Saturday and Sunday 6am and Saturday evening at 6p. Moon Glow on Saturday is at dark. all launches and glow are 100% dependant upon weather and wind.
