Whether you’re visiting for a vacation, a long weekend, or the afternoon, there are lots of ways to experience the authentic rural character of Washington County.
Pick your own berries, melons or apples. Get a sap bucket with your name on it, and tap your own maple tree. Navigate your way through a corn maze. Visit a creamery where the milk gets bottled right on the farm. Buy fresh eggs, free-range chicken and pork, grass-fed beef, and an astonishing array of just-picked produce and cut flowers, directly from the growers, at farm stands and farmer’s markets.
Festivals, including The Southern Adirondack Fiber Festival and HarvestFest, are another great way to celebrate Washington County’s agricultural bounty. So are specialty events, like Maple Weekend, and the Fiber Tour and the Cheese Tour, which draw an international crowd. And don’t miss our biggest annual event, held every August for more than 100 years: the world-famous Washington County Fair.
